To better understand the needs of children in various types of residential child care services and the challenges in the provision of such services, the Commission on Children (the Commission) organised an online stakeholder engagement session on 30 May 2022 to garner views of stakeholders on “Making Residential Child Care Services to Better Meet the Needs of Children” .

About 100 participants, including parents or carers of children using residential child care services and management and frontline staff from service operators, attended the online engagement session.  During break-out sessions, participants shared their views on and offered suggestions on areas for improvement, including mode of operation, care and training plan, premises and facilities, manpower and staff training, quality of service and monitoring measures, etc. The engagement session was moderated by members of the Commission with representatives from the Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Social Welfare Department.
